Update FAQ
We're making some exciting changes over the coming weeks. With a new core material, new website, and new wholesale benefits - as well as a brand new reward scheme. Read on to find out more...
From war, to Covid, to cost of living, life has hit everyone like a tonne of bricks recently. We are no exception. We've seen wood prices rocket 70% in the last 3 years and now we are hit with a global shortage of material that we can no longer avoid.
So with that in mind, we will no longer be offering Baltic Birch Plywood as our core material, and instead will be offering MDF.
As part of this change, our website will be relaunched at the end of May with a fresh look, new features, and updated product range.
Most of our current products, as well as new designs will be available in MDF. Changing our core material to MDF will allow us to offer more variety in our product range, including more basic shape packs and DIY kits for painting - as well as a new pricing structure to reflect the new material.
This isn't a small change and we know you will all have questions. We've provided some answers to key questions from our announcement. Use the search to find what you are looking for.
MDF Material
Why are you making the change from plywood to MDF?
The long and short of it is, Russia. Our plywood is Baltic Birch Plywood which comes from Russia. With the horrific conflict that continues in Ukraine, we would not be willing nor are we legally able to purchase wood from Russia. In turn, now that the supplies are all but running out on a global level, we cannot continue to offer something that has a very limited time span left.
My products are "natural wood", can I still order in this style?
Our core material going forward will be MDF. However, we understand that some of our customers prefer a natural wood look. With this in mind, we are currently in discussions with a new supplier for an alternative plywood product, which we hope to offer in addition to MDF on selected products.
I have exclusive plywood products with you - what will happen to these?
All of our existing account customers with exclusive products will be contacted separately in due course to discuss options for their products going forward. In the first instance, all exclusive products will now be made in MDF - and the previous pricing will be adjusted accordingly for the new material. However, our hope is that we will be able to offer an alternative plywood or veneer option to these customers going forward. As soon as this option is available, we will provide more information to these customers via email.
How long will this be for / is plywood coming back?
Simply put, we just don't know. If the war ended tomorrow, we cannot see that sanctions would be lifted any time soon. On top of that, supply and demand will likely price us out of the market for a while anyway. At present, we are not looking to bring back plywood as our core material option for the foreseeable future, but when this changes, you'll know.
When will the changes be effective?
We are aiming to have everything ready for the end of May. This gives you time to warn your customers of changes, decide on changes you wish to make with the products we supply, ask us every question you can think of and finally gives you the time to order any items in plywood that you require. This may be custom orders or you may wish to stock up on your most popular items. This timescale also gives us the time to get the website ready behind the scenes and make the transition as smooth as possible.
New Look Website
Will the website be closed?
During the switch over, there will be some unavoidable downtime on our website whilst we implement the new features. At present, the aim is to close the website on Monday 23rd May, and re-open with the new website on Thursday 26th May. But we'll keep you updated with exact dates and times in the coming weeks.
Will every product be available when you re-open?
In order to minimise the downtime of our website, we will be re-opening with a primary selection of products from our range including basic shapes, clocks, puzzles, layered plaques, and bunting to name a few. Once the new website has launched, we will work behind the scenes to add as many products as possible.
If a particular product is missing when we go live, please let us know - and we'll do our best to get this re-added as quickly as possible.
What changes are being made to the website?
Obviously our products will be changing to reflect the new material. But whilst our website is closed, we'll be taking the opportunity to add a whole heap of exciting new features that we can't wait to share with you all!
Reward Scheme
What is the reward scheme?
With our new look website, we'll be launching a brand new reward scheme for customers, which will reward points for purchases, as well as other interactions with our brand.
What can I use the reward points for?
Reward points can be used to redeem £ or % discount vouchers off of future purchases. As well as occasional seasonal free gifts.
Do I need to register for the reward scheme?
No. If you have an account with us, you will have already been enrolled onto the scheme automatically. New customers will be enrolled onto the scheme once a new account has been registered on our website, AND you have placed your first order.
You'll be able to check your points balance, and reward options at any time using the Rewards banner on the website.
Wholesale Focus
Will you offer free shipping?
Our new shipping rates will include FREE Next Day UK shipping on £100+ orders.
Standard shipping will be using RM48 service, and is priced from £3.85 for £20+ orders. Upgrades to RM24 are available at checkout.
Will the minimum order value be changing?
As we are a craft wholesaler, we want to ensure that we can offer both a fast turnaround time, and competitive wholesale prices to our customers. This means streamlining our designing process to cut blank items in bulk, and orders by the sheet whenever possible. For this reason, our minimum order value will be increasing from £10 to £20.
